The Eurasian Lynx is a near-threatened species of lynx found in the forests of Europe and Siberia, and is the biggest of the lynxes. This lynx averages between 32 to 51 inches in length and stands about 28 inches tall at the shoulder. Adult males can weigh up to 70 pounds, and adult females up to 40 pounds. The Eurasian lynx has grey to reddish fur with black spots with a variable pattern. The Eurasian Lynx is mainly nocturnal, hunts at night, and lives alone as an adult. The sounds made by this lynx makes are very quiet and are seldom heard, so the presence of the species in an area may go unnoticed for years. Remnants of prey or tracks on snow are usually observed long before this elusive animal is seen.
