FOOTHILL FELINES SPENCER!!

Cute leopard male with lots of color at 7 weeks old!

"Spencer" is an adorable rosetted Bengal male, born March 20, 2003 to Double Champion Foothill Felines Manzanita, and Gogees Michabo of Foothill Felines. Cathy M. here in the Gold River area of Sacramento, had been wanting to add a third kitten to her household for several months, and she was torn between getting another Siamese kitten, or getting a Bengal kitten (to complement her 2 Siamese kitties she already had). Cathy really liked our Michabo, with his strong head and sensitive, loving face and manners, and we were all so thrilled when things worked out for Cathy to add one of Michabo's sons to her home and family. We heard from Cathy frequently as she and Spencer adjusted to their new life together, including this note after Spencer had been with her about 2 weeks: "Wanted to let you know how my kitten (his name is Spencer) is doing. He and the Siamese have adjusted very well. It only took one day for Tucker to stop hissing (Sam never did hiss). This quick adjustment is probably because Spence was a guest in my computer room for a week before they all met so he was not really a stranger to the house. Spencer just hates to be picked up but I keep trying. (Sigh) He does not mind being petted but keeps a distance from me. For example when I am on the bed reading, he will jump up but stays about two feet away. But then, all three do that. I think it is a conspiracy. They all follow me from room to room, like the pied piper or something. (This is especially true when they even remotely suspect I might be heading for the kitchen)."

"Sam and Tucker have at least once licked Spence on his little face. Spencer so wants the others to like him and I sometimes feel sorry for him because they are a bit aloof with him sometimes. But, no hissing whatsoever. I am taking photos but I will wait to send some when he is noticeably larger than you last saw him. He still tries to bite my arm so I just blow on him once and that seems to work. The squirt gun is great for the many, many things he can find to climb and hang from; like my round table skirts. Sam and Spencer sleep with me for part of the night (Tucker sleeps in the sink or the closet) and then when they begin to play or talk to each other I put all three outside my bedroom so that I can sleep. Spencer is a wet food junkie and has a complete and total mind of his own. He is a kick to watch; an incredibly cute little kitten. Getting spoiled already. Just need to keep working on the picking-up and lap action. Hope all is well!"

And, several months later, we received a wonderful note and PICTURES from Cathy!! "First of all, congratulations to the two happy couples on the birth of the cute little babies! Can't wait to see more photos as both litters mature. Secondly, I am going to put a couple of photos in the mail of my little Spencer so that you can see how he looks at 5 1/2 months. He is very active and independent. He does not like to be held, but he is a major cuddler in the wee hours of the morning and when I pet him he purrs like a motor boat. I am crazy about him. I just love his sweet face and silky smooth fur. It is hard to keep my hands off of him! He is so much like Michabo in the face; definitely Michabo's son. My other boys and Spence get along well, with never a cross word, so all has worked out well for all of us!"
