Our Metallica is a gorgeous, golden leopard spotted Bengal born on August 12, 1997. His mother is our lovely blue-eyed seal lynx-point snow Bengal, Marshamelo. His father is the very handsome, very famous Supreme Grand Champion, Heritage Kimo of AlmaDen. (Kimo was the first Supreme Grand Champion Bengal in California.) Metallica was the largest of four adorable leopard spotted Bengals in his litter. Just a few days after birth, we were able to see rosetting in several of his spots, especially on the shoulder area and on his sides. His paws were enormous, and our vet called him "incredibly well endowed" for a two day old boy!! Metallica was dramatically different looking than his littermates, and he has very similar coloring to his famous father, Kimo, which is a very light background with dark arrowhead spots in beautiful, horizontal patterns.
Metallica was always a very outgoing, friendly kitten, running to greet us and climb in our laps. He literally spent hours in our laps, kneading and purring, and also talking lovingly to us. Another of his favorite sleeping places was right on my foot!! He had a passion for food - he even enjoyed tiny sips of beer, drops of salsa, and pizza! We think he has an exceptionally beautiful face, which as he grew, has become one of the strongest and most intense looking of adult Bengal males we've seen. Metallica still loved to run and fetch his toys for us, even as an adult, and created very unusual dismounts from our large cat trees!!
The only time I ever saw Metallica get frightened was when he was a young kitten. He came trotting in to the living room from the hall, heading over to his favorite place by the fireplace with all the big throw pillows. I had just purchased a flat leopard spotted furry pillow with a cute little cartoon face and put it on top of the other pillows. Metallica took one look at that little "leopard" ... he didn't utter a peep, but kept his eyes glued on that pillow while he pedalled backwards cautiously, slowly. He would not come out into the living room for several days, then finally, very gradually, he started getting up his courage and approached the pillow. He finally "killed" it dead, then proceeded to lay on top of it, grooming himself in victory!!
We are so grateful for the many wonderful kittens sired by this fantastic Bengal male. We hope you enjoy his journey from kittenhood to adulthood through some of our most favorite pictures of him.
