FOOTHILL FELINES TAZ & FOOTHILL FELINES IZZIE!!
"Taz" (upper left) and "Izzie" (upper right) reside in Northern California with their new mommy Jackie L. These two are virtually inseparable, and we have combined their update page accordingly!! Jackie has also been terrific about keeping us posted on her new babies' progress and antics, and sending us lots of pictures. Shortly after she took her kittens home, she wrote: "Hi Holly!
Well, things are going along fine. Izzie is the shy one, but we've been doing alot of playing and bonding and she'll now let me pick her up and even hold her for a minute. Their favorite toy of course is the fly on the plastic rod. I'm glad I have two. I keep one in the bedroom and one in the living room. They also love an empty toilet paper roll and another fuzzy ball on the end of a long rubberized elastic band. They play incessantly on and in their tree house. That was a GOOD purchase. Today, I decided to put on their darling leopard collars. Taz is so laid back, he just thought it was something to play with. Izzie on the other hand kept it on awhile and then started racing around the house meowing in the loudest voice I've heard, except for her mother when she was in heat again. But I'm sure she's too young to be in heat. She then decided to lay down in the litter box while Taz was using it. Oh boy. She has a mind of her own!"
"I found a vet today that I think I'm going to like. She only takes care of cats and they are very familiar with Bengals and love them. I made an appointment for their last shots for July 9th. They do not, however, use the same vaccine that your vet does. The gal I talked to explained that some owners prefer the distemper via nose drops rather than injection because sometimes it leaves a lump which can turn into something unpleasant for the kitties. Don't remember exactly what she said about that. Do you think it's ok not to use the same one your vet has been using? On July 9th, I will make the appointment for the spaying and neutering for the middle of August and leave them there for the weekend as I plan to be out of town.
I actually haven't been gone very much since last Friday because the bonding is extremely important to me and to them. We play whenever they aren't sleeping. Izzie even went under the covers last night to see what was under there. Still their favorite places to sleep are behind the couch or under my bed and when they're feeling very brave, on the very top of their tree house. Thanks for checking in. I was going to email you today anyway. I'll send more pictures soon. I'm loving being a new Mom."
Six months later, we had another wonderful update from Jackie with more fantastic pictures!!
"Hi Holly,
Loved your Christmas card. Izzie and Taz are such characters. Izzie (Miss Priss), Taz (Mr. Hang Loose). Their favorite place to sleep is at the top of my closet on top of my suitcases. The higher up they are the better they like it. My kitchen cabinets are hung low enough from the ceiling that it has provided a space for storage of my copper pots. This space being even higher than the closet shelves is of course the perfect place for them to hang out when I'm in the kitchen. They do use their tree house, but it's not quite as high. Every morning when I get my coffee, I sit on the living room couch or in a chair and Taz is instantly in my lap. While he doesn't snuggle at night when I go to bed, Izzie likes to be right next to me and one can often find her under the covers. Sleeping with me is not a necessity for them. About half the time they like their suitcases."
"Taz is quite large in size and still growing into his feet. Sometimes when I'm walking across the room he will hurl his entire body at me, I guess you would call that body slamming. He's too funny. Izzie, on the other hand is very petite and EVERYTHING is on her terms. I'm so glad they are my little family. I just love these two so much and the feeling is quite mutual. Here are some pictures. # 5 is Izzie (into the electronics); 11. 12 & 13 are Taz (showing off his spots and peeking from up on high). Merry Christmas!
Love, Jackie, Izzie & Taz"
