The African Golden Cat is a medium-sized wild cat living in the rainforests of West and Central Africa. It is about usually around 30 inches in length; about 12 inches high' weighs in the 30 pound range and has a foot long tail. Sometimes referred to as "the Leopard's brother" because the two felines roam the same territory, the African Golden Cat is actually a close relative of both the Caracal and the Serval. However, it is the only member of the genus Profelis. While the African Golden Cat is similar to the Asian Golden Cat, studies show that this is only because the two golden cats evolved at around the same period of time.
