Currently, the Indian Leopard is considered one of the most successful of the leopard subspecies. However, in addition to its natural predators such as lions, tigers, wolves, bears, hyenas, etc., these leopards are also increasingly coming into contact and therefore conflict with, humans. As the cities throughout India and bordering nations continue to grow, this encroaches even further upon the natural habitat of the Indian leopard who then may come ever closer into human populated areas, seeking out domestic livestock as easy prey. The Forest Departments in India have really been working hard at setting up humane traps near the areas of leopard-human threat, and once captured, the leopards are taken far away from human population before being released back into the wild.
