The Persian leopard (sometimes called the "Iranian leopard") is said to be the largest of all the leopard subspecies, with the big males reaching as much as 155 pounds in weight, and up to almost 3 feet tall at the shoulder. The Persian leopard is native to western Asia, and is concerned critically endangered in its current habitat throughout the Middle East. The biggest threats to the Persian leopard include persecution, poaching, habitat loss and loss of prey within the habitats, it is also suffering from human warfare in certain volatile parts of the area which is taking place in its mountain range home.
