The Canadian Lynx is a North American mammal of the cat family, Felidae. A close relative of the Eurasian Lynx (Lynx lynx), the Canadian Lynx is actually more similar to the Bobcat (Lynx rufus). The Canadian Lynx's habitat includes Canada and into Alaska, as well Montana, Idaho, Washington, and a few other parts of the northern United States. With a dense silvery-brown coat, ruffed face and tufted ears, the Canadian Lynx is larger than the Bobcat (with whom it shares parts of its range), and over twice the size of the domestic cat. It is considered to be a threatened species in the contiguous United States.
