The Marbled Cat Pardofelis marmorata is similar in size to the domestic cat, yet has a proportionately longer, more thickly furred tail (usually an indicator of a life-style involving tree climbing, where the tail is used as a counterbalance). Marbled cats weigh on average about 10 pounds at maturity, reach a length of 21 inches, with an 18 inch tail. It is often compared to the much larger Clouded Leopard because of its unique fur pattern In color, the base fur ranges from pale yellow through to brownish grey with lighter under parts being a lighter variation. The Marbled Cat is actually closely related to the Asiatic Golden Cat and is found in parts of India, Nepal, Borneo and Sumatra. Due to its rapidly decreasing habitat area, it is considered an extremely vulnerable species regarding conservation status.
