In 2000, I was honored to be visited by a 9 month old Serval male and his human family. This gorgeous cat made a tremendous impression on me; I'll never forget the unique feel of his fur; the indescribable wild color to his eyes; my instinctive understanding that he was allowing me to touch his soul when he rewarded my pets with a big purr and some head butts.

In 2002, Sandy Spots came to live with us here in north central California. She is an F2 Savannah, meaning that her grandfather is a full African Serval cat. This was the closest generation to the Serval that I felt I had the appropriate facilities and experience for. Sandy changed our lives forever, and I will be forever grateful for that to her and to her breeders, Dale and Holly Hummel in Illinois. Sandy instilled in me my love for the Savannah cat, and my determination to contribute in some possible way, towards the advancement of this new breed of domestic cat which was then just getting started.

The next Savannah to join us was SelectExotics Sunny Spots of Foothill Felines; like Sandy, she's an F2 generation.
Sunny also made a very quick transition and completely stole our hearts. She wags her tail like a puppy!

Cats and kittens from Foothill Felines are fully guaranteed, and come with written contracts and health guarantees. We are located in the Sacramento area of California, and LOVE having visitors to our home cattery!! We usually have kittens available several times a year for pets, breeders, and sometimes show quality animals.

Our kittens are home-raised right in our large kitchen/living great room and bedrooms, with plenty of people-cuddling and interactive social play, as treasured members of our family. We often include bottle-feeding our babies for the additional closeness and human bonding it provides. And, we always provide the kitten's pedigree, health records and registration papers to the new owners, as well as on-going follow-up and support. We usually keep the kittens here until they are about 8-12 weeks old, depending upon the size and abilities of the kitten. All kittens will be current on their vaccinations, and veterinarian-checked. We ship to all major airports, including most International airports, using a variety of experienced airlines with professional and caring live animal transport services.

Savannahs are indoor cats, and they need some space to exercise and play. They'll do quite well even in a rather small home or apartment as long as they have plenty of toys, safe areas of the house to explore, and some tall cat trees to climb ... plus most of all, plenty of attention from you. It's been our experience that our Savannahs and Bengals are very social animals, and often do better in "pairs". These two breeds get along really well together, and families report great delight with adding one kitten from each type to their homes!! If you are concerned about whether or not you'd be able to spend enough time with your Savannah, consider purchasing a "two-some" as in two brothers, or a brother and sister, etc. (Savannahs also do extremely well with friendly dogs and puppies.) And, should you by chance become afflicted with the highly contagious, chronic, but fortunately non-fatal condition known as "Savannah-holicism", we do enjoy mentoring new breeders!!
