FOOTHILL FELINES RICOCHET!!

Gene B. in Pennsylvania was looking to make some major changes in his life - as in retirement, and adding some feline companions to his family. It had been too many years without any cats in his lap, and he was feeling the loss enormously. He fell in love with this gorgeous little leopard spotted male kitten, as Marshamelo and Metallica are two of his favorites of our cats here at Foothill Felines. Having just recently added Otis to his life, he was now ready for that special pedigreed Bengal. With his great sense of humor and tremendous energy and compassion, we knew that Rico would be going to a great new home!!

"Dear Holly and Wes, Can't believe it, all three of us are still alive and kicking. The boys (Rico and Otis) are doing well. It's been about four days since the last "set-to"...HA! Rico always instigates, Otis copes (for awhile) and then retaliates. Rico growls and finally runs away. Then, Rico comes back and attacks (kind of) again. I'm getting used to it. On a fun note, Rico is becoming a "water cat"...started with my glass of ice water, now insists that I leave a small stream of water running in the bathroom sink with the stopper plugged so a pool of water can collect. Then, into the water with both front paws. Much splashing...much fun (unless you happen to be in the vicinity and getting soaked! He is everything I dreamed of in a Bengal...living up to his name completely. I count nine permanent resident cats at your house...is that right? Where do you and Wes live? In the mailbox?"

And a few weeks later, "Dear Holly, Wes, M, M, M, M, M, M, M, M, and M: Yes, we are all still alive. Rico is a gem. Still fights with Otis (about once a day), but the rest of the time he is a doll. You said you would sell me a cat. He isn't a cat. Yes, he looks like a cat. Yes, he sounds like a cat. BUT, he is really a little (growing quickly) bundle of pure LOVE. When he gets tired (not very often), he insists on curling up on my chest so he can lift his head and rub it against my chin. What an imp! I think I've found my niche in life...stay home and pet the kitties. What a life that would be. Love and best wishes..."

And, almost a year later: "Dear Holly, Wes, and all the M&Ms (did you say 23 of them now???) Just a short note to update you...I got my new desk chair (with the 5" of foam padding) put together and it IS COMFORTABLE, to say the least. Rico likes it too, but occasionally lets me sit on it with him. He tried to use it for a scratching post, but I discouraged him firmly...he hasn't tried that again (at least not with me in sight). He is intelligent...learns very quickly and knows the meaning (or inflection, at least) of the word "NO"! Have I told you recently that I love him to pieces!!! Take care...LOVE, GENE"
